FIRST THINGS FIRST

PLEASE DO YOUR BEST NOT TO DRAG THE HAIR FROM YOUR DEER WHILE GETTING IT OUT OF THE FIELD!!

When caping your trophy to bring to me, please follow the picture above. Make a complete circle around your deer with your knife, making sure you keep your cut BEHIND the front legs. Cut a circle around both front legs, just above the elbow. Cut up the back side of the front legs,(follow the line where the brown hair meets the white hair) from the circle you just cut, to the armpit, then from the armpit back to where you circled the body. Now begin skinning and pulling the hide up the neck toward the head, without cutting through the hide. Let the hide hang over the head and
cut  the neck about 3 inches below the jaw line, leaving the head and 3 inches of neck attached and still in the cape. Your trophy is now ready to bring to me for mounting. If you can't bring it immediately, please put it in a freezer  ASAP!  The quicker you can get your cape from the field to the freezer, the better resulting tan and mount you can expect.
IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, OR ARE JUST NOT SURE ABOUT CAPING YOUR DEER,PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CALL ME!!
